William H. Macy Settles Long-Running Legal Dispute with Neighbor

William H. Macy has officially settled a years-long legal battle with his neighbor, Pierce Brown, over a landscaping dispute that led to a $600,000 lawsuit.

A Costly Disagreement

The conflict began when Brown accused the Shameless actor of ordering landscapers to remove several mature pine trees and other vegetation from Brown’s property without permission. The lawsuit, filed in April 2023, alleged that Macy acted “knowingly and intentionally” in the destruction.

Macy, 74, denied all allegations, with his legal team arguing that Brown had been “careless, reckless, and negligent” regarding the matter.

Settlement Reached, Terms Kept Secret

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE on February 12, Brown filed a Notice of Settlement the previous day, officially signaling the case’s resolution. However, the terms of the agreement remain confidential. The settlement is described as “conditional,” meaning it depends on certain undisclosed terms being met.

A History of Legal Challenges

This lawsuit surfaced four years after Macy’s wife, actress Felicity Huffman, was caught up in the 2019 college admissions scandal. Huffman, 62, pleaded guilty to paying $15,000 to alter their daughter’s SAT scores. She served 11 days of a 14-day prison sentence and completed community service.

While the details of Macy’s settlement remain private, this resolution brings an end to another legal controversy for the Hollywood couple.
