Jay-Z Accuses Lawyer Tony Buzbee of Extortion Over Dismissed Allegations

Jay-Z is taking a stand against attorney Tony Buzbee, accusing him of attempting to extort large sums of money over two separate allegations—one of which was dismissed, and the other never made it to court.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Buzbee sent two demand letters to Jay-Z in November 2024. One involved a Jane Doe who accused Jay-Z and Diddy of raping her in 2000 when she was 13. The other was from a John Doe who claimed Jay-Z sexually assaulted him at a 2015 Beverly Hills party after being drugged by someone else.

Jay-Z has called both allegations “false and ridiculous.” Last week, the Jane Doe case was dismissed, marking a significant victory for him and Diddy.

In his latest filing, Jay-Z claims Buzbee deliberately filed the Jane Doe lawsuit just before his daughter Blue Ivy’s Hollywood premiere for Mufasa: The Lion King, forcing him to choose between supporting her or avoiding bad press. He attended the event but avoided media questions.

Jay-Z originally sued Buzbee anonymously in November for alleged extortion, later revealing his identity. Now, he’s pushing to keep the case alive, calling the letters a “blatant blackmail attempt” and an attack on his reputation, career, and family.

Despite the Jane Doe case being dropped, Buzbee remains defiant, stating, “We expect that lawsuit, which is frivolous, to be dismissed.”
