Christina Ricci Says She Doesn’t Want Son Freddie to Be a Child Actor

Christina Ricci may have started her career as a child star, but she doesn’t want the same for her 10-year-old son, Freddie.

During an appearance on Today, the Yellowjackets actress shared that Freddie has a strong interest in acting and often visits her on set. "He has his own chair and has been on the set quite a lot," Ricci revealed. "Every time he's there, he asks if he can be a child actor."

However, Ricci isn't on board with the idea. "I'm like, 'Who's going to take you because I have to work?'" she explained. "I can't go with you." While she admitted that Freddie would likely be a great actor, she jokingly added, "He's very good at tricking me into things—deception."

Ricci, who shares Freddie with ex-husband James Heerdegen, also has a 3-year-old daughter, Cleopatra, with husband Mark Hampton.

In August, Ricci celebrated Freddie’s 10th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post featuring throwback pictures. "This absolutely gorgeous kid is 10 years old today. I love him more than I ever thought possible. Happy Birthday, Freddie," she wrote.

Earlier in the year, she also chaperoned Freddie’s school field trip, humorously noting the experience left her "permanently deaf in one ear from the bus ride."

For now, it seems Ricci is keeping her son’s Hollywood dreams on hold—but who knows what the future holds?
