Chrissy Teigen Defends Selena Gomez After White House Criticism

Chrissy Teigen has come to Selena Gomez’s defense after the White House and Republican figures criticized the singer’s emotional reaction to recent immigration raids.

Selena’s Emotional Plea

On January 27, Gomez posted a tearful Instagram story expressing her distress over the mass arrests of immigrants in the U.S. "All my people are getting attacked … the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something," she said. Her post followed news that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had arrested a record 956 people under new executive orders from former President Donald Trump.

Political Backlash

Gomez’s reaction sparked harsh criticism from Republican figures. Trump’s border czar Tom Homan dismissed her concerns, saying, “If they don’t like it, then go to Congress and change the law.” Former Senate candidate Sam Parker went even further, posting on X (formerly Twitter), “Deport Selena Gomez.” The official White House account also shared a video mocking her response.

Chrissy Teigen and Flavor Flav Show Support

Teigen, known for her outspoken nature, didn’t hold back when asked about the situation. Speaking to TMZ, she said, “I love her. Empathy should never be frowned upon or made fun of. The fact that the White House has enough time to even make a statement or a video about it is f***ing preposterous and disgusting and lame and loser behavior.”

Flavor Flav also voiced his support, calling Gomez “brave” for sharing her truth despite the backlash. “Team Selena Gomez. Again,” he posted.

Gomez’s History of Advocacy

This isn’t the first time Gomez has spoken out on immigration issues. In 2019, she produced Living Undocumented, a documentary series highlighting the struggles of undocumented families. She also wrote a Time Magazine op-ed detailing her family’s own experiences with immigration.

Despite the criticism, Gomez’s message has resonated with many, proving once again that she isn’t afraid to use her voice for what she believes in.
