As part of her final wishes, the iconic “Nothing Compares 2 U” star requested her music be released posthumously at the discretion of her children aged 18 or older, encouraging them to “milk it for what it’s worth.”
O’Connor’s will, signed in 2013, included deeply personal instructions. She asked to be dressed in priest clothing for her burial, with a Hebrew Bible and her album Theology placed at her side. She also requested her ashes be handled as her children saw fit.
Her youngest son, 18-year-old Yeshua Bonadio, was named to inherit her guitar collection, while her late son Shane, who tragically died by suicide in 2022, was intended to receive her religious items.
O’Connor appointed her ex-husband, John Reynolds, as the executor of her estate. Details of her British assets have not yet been disclosed.
The Irish singer passed away on July 26, 2023, at the age of 56, just 18 months after Shane’s death. Police found her unresponsive in her London apartment, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her cause of death was attributed to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, compounded by a respiratory tract infection.
In a statement shared after her passing, her family expressed their heartbreak: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
