The conversation began after Rose cut off communication with a boy who liked her, leaving him hurt and confused. “Instead of sharing how she felt, she just stopped talking to him,” Johansson explained. “I took the opportunity to teach her about how ghosting can leave someone feeling really insecure and unsure of what went wrong.”
Reflecting on her own experiences, Johansson admitted she had both ghosted and been ghosted in the past, often out of discomfort with confrontation. “It’s an awful feeling because you’re left with no answers, wondering, ‘Did I do something wrong?’ It can stay with you for years,” she shared.
The Avengers actress emphasized the importance of honesty, even in difficult situations. “Breakups can be awkward, but being truthful is far kinder than leaving someone without closure,” she said.
Johansson shares her daughter Rose with ex-husband Romain Dauriac. She is also mom to 3-year-old Cosmo, whom she shares with her husband, comedian Colin Jost.
