Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Criticized by Actress Justine Bateman for Wildfire Relief Efforts in L.A.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles have drawn criticism from actress Justine Bateman, who referred to the couple as "disaster tourists." Bateman took to social media over the weekend to voice her disapproval, accusing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of exploiting the situation for publicity.

The former Family Ties actress labeled the couple “ambulance chasers” and criticized a recent photo op where Harry and Meghan toured a disaster-affected area near Pasadena. The tour was conducted alongside Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo. Bateman expressed her disdain, stating, “Are they politicians now? They don’t live here; they are tourists. Disaster tourists.”

Despite the criticism, it is worth noting that the couple resides in California, albeit in Montecito, Santa Barbara County, which is approximately 90 miles from Los Angeles. Reports suggest that Harry and Meghan have opened their Montecito mansion to friends and family affected by the wildfires, providing supplies and essential items to those in need.

The wildfires in Los Angeles have resulted in significant destruction, with 24 confirmed fatalities, 16 individuals still missing, and thousands of homes destroyed. Bateman also criticized local officials during an appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime, stating they should be held accountable for their handling of the crisis. She claimed that inadequate planning contributed to the disaster's devastating impact.

Neither Prince Harry and Meghan Markle nor their representatives have publicly responded to Bateman's comments.
