Prince Andrew Under Police Investigation for Allegedly Using Fake Name to Register Company

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, is facing scrutiny after being reported to the police for allegedly using a false name to register a company. Graham Smith, the chief executive of the Republic campaign group, submitted the complaint to Scotland Yard, accusing the Duke of providing misleading information during the registration of Naples Gold Limited in 2002.

Smith claims that Prince Andrew used the pseudonym “Andrew Inverness” when setting up the company in partnership with sports retail magnate Johan Eliasch. The name is believed to be associated with one of the Duke's lesser-known titles, the Earl of Inverness, a title granted to him by Queen Elizabeth II in 1986.

According to Smith, while the alleged act of filing false information might appear to be a minor issue, it could point to wider concerns about fraudulent business practices. He further argued that members of the royal family should be held to a higher standard. Smith remarked, “The royals appear to believe they can act with impunity,” stressing the importance of accountability.

The Metropolitan Police are currently reviewing the complaint to assess whether further action is required. No formal charges have been made at this stage. Smith emphasized that even small infractions like this should be addressed in order to maintain integrity within the system.

In addition to the fake name allegation, it has been reported that Prince Andrew’s investment firm, Urramoor Limited, has applied for dissolution. The company, which the Duke had significant control over, has been plagued by financial difficulties, failing to generate profits over its nine years of operation. Recently, it was disclosed that Urramoor had received £210,000 in 2023 from an anonymous source as it struggled with its financial obligations.

As the investigation into the complaint continues, questions remain about Prince Andrew’s business dealings and the potential implications for his financial and public standing.
