Patti Smith Collapses on Stage in Brazil, Cuts Show Short Due to Health Scare

Music icon Patti Smith was forced to cut her performance short in Brazil after collapsing on stage mid-show. The 78-year-old legend was performing at São Paulo's Cultura Artística Theater with the Berlin-based Soundwalk Collective when the incident occurred, approximately 30 minutes into her set.

Reports from local news outlet Folha de S.Paulo revealed that the collapse took place as Smith was reading a statement about climate change. She was quickly taken backstage, but later returned in a wheelchair to apologize to the audience.

“I got sick, and the doctor said I can’t finish. So we’ll have to figure something out. And I feel very badly,” Smith told the crowd.

Soundwalk Collective later shared on their Instagram Story that Patti had been dealing with severe migraines recently and began feeling dizzy during the performance. They assured fans that Smith was receiving medical care from “the best doctors in the most loving way.”

Fans were relieved to hear that Patti Smith is expected to return to the stage later tonight.
