Allegations Detailed
The New York Magazine article includes the account of Scarlett Pavlovich, who claims Gaiman assaulted her during her time as a babysitter for his family. She alleges incidents involving non-consensual sexual acts, including one instance where Gaiman allegedly assaulted her in a bathtub. Pavlovich also accuses Gaiman of attempting anal intercourse without consent and using degrading language during encounters.
Another accuser, identified as Caroline, described an incident where Gaiman allegedly initiated sexual contact while his son was present. She later signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and received $300,000 as part of a settlement to leave his property in Woodstock, New York.
Kendra Stout, who met Gaiman at a book signing, alleges he raped her during a trip to the Cornish countryside in 2007, despite her repeated refusal due to a medical condition. Katherine Kendall, another accuser, claims Gaiman attempted to assault her on his tour bus in 2012 after she expressed her unwillingness to engage in sexual activity.
Previous Reports
Tortoise Media previously released a six-part podcast titled Master, covering allegations from five women. Some used pseudonyms or first names to protect their identities. The podcast initially brought attention to the accusations in July 2024.
Gaiman’s Response
Gaiman has denied the allegations, maintaining that all interactions were consensual. His representatives have issued statements refuting specific claims, including accusations of sexual activity in the presence of his son. Regarding Pavlovich’s allegations, Gaiman’s team described them as “false” and “deplorable.”
The New York Magazine article notes that several accusers maintained contact with Gaiman after the alleged incidents, with some signing NDAs and receiving financial settlements. Pavlovich, for instance, reportedly received $9,200 in separate payments.
Legal and Industry Fallout
While some accusers filed police reports, investigations appear to have concluded without charges. Pavlovich’s case, filed in January 2023, was closed, according to New Zealand police.
The allegations have had repercussions for Gaiman’s professional projects. Amazon Prime Video’s Good Omens will reportedly conclude with a single 90-minute episode for its third season, without Gaiman’s involvement. Disney has paused its adaptation of The Graveyard Book, and Netflix canceled Dead Boy Detectives. However, The Sandman Season 2 and Prime Video’s Anansi Boys adaptation are still slated for release.
