Lily Allen Announces Break Amid Ongoing Mental Health Struggles

Lily Allen, 39, is stepping back from her public life to focus on her mental health. In the January 9 episode of her BBC podcast Miss Me?, the singer opened up about her struggles, admitting she's been finding it difficult to stay engaged with anything.

"I’m just so... I’m really not in a good place," Allen confessed to co-host Miquita Oliver, revealing that she's been spiraling mentally. She described her recent experiences, including a panic attack at a Christmas lunch and needing to leave a theater event early.

Allen explained, "I just can't concentrate on anything except the pain that I’m going through." She confirmed that she would be taking a break, saying, "I’m going away next week. You’re not gonna hear me for a few weeks."

Despite rumors claiming she had relapsed and was heading to rehab, Allen strongly denied them, assuring listeners that she remains sober after five years. She emphasized that her mental health struggles are separate from her sobriety.

The Not Fair singer has been open about her journey with mental health, including past issues with bulimia, and her ongoing battle with an eating disorder. During a December podcast episode, she shared that she's struggled with eating for the past three years, something she had kept hidden from her therapist.

Allen, who married actor David Harbour in 2020, is taking time to care for herself and focus on recovery.
