Kat Dennings Reflects on Bob Saget's Legacy: "I'm So Sad That He's Gone"

Even three years after Bob Saget’s passing, Kat Dennings cherishes the kindness and protection her former TV dad showed her.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Dennings, 38, remembered working alongside Saget on the 2001 sitcom Raising Dad. The show, where they played father and daughter Matt and Sarah Stewart, lasted just one season, but Saget’s impact on Dennings has endured.

“God bless him. I’m so sad that he’s gone,” Dennings said, describing him as “lovely” to work with. She recalled his protective nature on set, noting how his role as a real-life father to three daughters influenced his care for her. “He was very sweet to me and very kind,” she shared. “I only have very nice memories of him.”

Saget tragically passed away on January 9, 2022, at 65 years old. He was found in his hotel room in Orlando, Florida, with his cause of death later confirmed as blunt head trauma from an unwitnessed fall.

The Full House alum is survived by his three daughters—Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer—whom he shared with his first wife, Sherri Kramer. In 2018, Saget married Comfort Food host Kelly Rizzo, who recently honored him on Instagram on the third anniversary of his death.

“January 9th, 2022, was by far the worst day I’ve ever experienced,” Rizzo wrote, sharing a video montage of treasured moments with her late husband. Reflecting on her grief, she expressed gratitude for the love and joy he brought to her life.

“It’s truly miraculous to see how much the world’s love for Bob has endured,” Rizzo continued. “His legacy remains strong, and I know he feels the outpouring of appreciation from above.”
