Jamie Lee Curtis Donates $1 Million to Support Los Angeles Wildfire Relief Efforts

Jamie Lee Curtis and her family have pledged $1 million to aid communities devastated by the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The donation, made through their Family Foundation, aims to provide immediate relief and resources for those affected.

In an Instagram post, Curtis expressed her concern for the escalating crisis, stating, "As the fire still rages on and first responders work tirelessly to save lives, we have pledged $1 million to start a fund of support for our great city and state." She added that she is coordinating with Governor Gavin Newsom, Mayor Karen Bass, and Senator Adam Schiff to ensure the funds are directed where they are most needed.

Curtis, whose Pacific Palisades neighborhood has been severely impacted, described the scene as “a catastrophe.” She shared that friends and neighbors have lost homes, and familiar landmarks have been destroyed.

Wildfires Cause Widespread Devastation

Since Tuesday, wildfires have ravaged over 15,000 acres in Pacific Palisades and Malibu, destroying hundreds of structures and forcing mass evacuations. East of Los Angeles, the Eaton Fire has burned through 10,000 acres, while the Hurst Fire has consumed more than 700 acres in the San Fernando Valley.

Firefighters and rescue teams continue to battle the flames, but the damage has already prompted significant disruptions in Southern California. Events such as the Critics Choice Awards and the AFI Awards Luncheon were canceled, while red carpet premieres for major films like Unstoppable and Better Man have been postponed. Local productions, including Abbott Elementary and Fallout, have also halted filming.

Entertainment Industry Steps Up

The Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) has launched an emergency fund to support firefighters, displaced individuals, and affected communities. The nonprofit, which previously aided relief efforts for the 2023 Maui fires, is rallying public donations to provide critical assistance.

Curtis's generous contribution underscores the urgent need for unity and support during this crisis. As she stated, “It’s a really awful situation, but our city and its people are strong. Together, we can rebuild.”

For those looking to contribute, the EIF has activated its platform to accept donations and channel them to frontline workers and victims of the wildfires.
