Foxx revealed that his condition, involving significant brain bleeding and a stroke, was so critical that his nurse in Atlanta described him as "a five-percenter," indicating that fewer than 5% of patients in similar situations survive.
This was not the first time the actor and comedian discussed his health scare. In his Netflix comedy special, What Had Happened Was, released in December, Foxx candidly recounted the incident, including the initial 15 days of his hospitalization, during which doctors believed he might not survive.
Speaking to Malkin, Foxx recalled a poignant moment with the nurse who cared for him. When he expressed his gratitude, the nurse responded with humility, emphasizing her dedication to all patients regardless of their status. Foxx shared her words: “I roll my sleeves up for everybody that comes in here... right now you’re a patient, and I got to get you right.”
The actor also spoke about the critical role his daughters, Anelise Foxx and Corinne Marie Foxx, played during his recovery. Despite the immense pressure, they provided unwavering support. Reflecting on their efforts, Foxx said, “When tragedy happens, you need somebody there that really loves you.”
