Cameron Diaz Makes a Bold Comeback in Netflix's "Back in Action" and Shares Her Take on Technology and Elon Musk

After an 11-year hiatus from acting, Cameron Diaz has returned to the big screen with Netflix's spy comedy Back in Action, co-starring Jamie Foxx. This marks her first movie press tour in over a decade, and Diaz is making waves both on-screen and off with her candid remarks.

In a recent interview with Complex, Diaz humorously stirred the pot by suggesting that tech mogul Elon Musk is the real U.S. president, overshadowing president-elect Donald Trump. The comment, which poked fun at Musk’s growing influence, left Foxx in stunned laughter.

"If you think about where we’re at with technology, we don’t talk to each other anymore. And we all know we’re moving off the planet because now Elon Musk is our president," Diaz quipped.

Her comments come as Musk assumes a key role in Trump's new administration. Shortly after his election victory over Kamala Harris, Trump appointed Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to head the "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE). Their mission? Streamline government operations and slash wasteful spending ahead of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

Musk has embraced the task, claiming last year he could cut $2 trillion from the federal budget. Trump lauded Musk and Ramaswamy as the architects of what he described as the modern-day “Manhattan Project.”

As for Diaz, her return to acting has fans wondering if this marks the start of a new chapter in her career. However, the Charlie’s Angels star is keeping her options open.

“I’m not defining anything,” Diaz told Empire magazine. “I reserve the right to say no to movies forever, and I reserve the right to say yes if it makes sense for me and my family.”

One thing is certain: Diaz has a new cinematic rule. “No more rom-coms, only mom-coms,” she said with a laugh.

For now, fans can catch her and Foxx in Back in Action, streaming soon on Netflix.
