Blake Lively Fights Back Against Justin Baldoni’s $400M Lawsuit

Blake Lively is pushing back hard against Justin Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit, claiming it’s a classic example of retaliation. Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, recently filed a federal suit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane, accusing them of a smear campaign to take control of the film It Ends With Us.

Lively’s legal team has fired back, stating Baldoni’s lawsuit follows the "abuser playbook." They described it as a tactic called DARVO: Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender. In a scathing statement, her attorneys said, “This is an age-old story: A woman speaks up with evidence of sexual harassment, and the abuser tries to shift the narrative.”

Baldoni alleges Lively attempted a "takeover" of the movie during production in 2023, accusing her of sidelining him and alienating the cast. He even cites a meeting at Lively and Reynolds' NYC penthouse, which he claims felt more like an ambush than collaboration. Baldoni also brought up a text where Lively reportedly compared herself to Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones.

The lawsuit includes claims of defamation, civil extortion, and interference with contractual relations, with Baldoni seeking $400 million in damages.

Lively’s legal team, however, denies the allegations, saying the evidence shows Sony asked Lively to oversee the final cut of the film, which went on to be a hit. They argue Baldoni’s lawsuit is an attempt to distract from the sexual harassment allegations against him.

“Their strategy of attacking the woman is desperate,” her team added. “It will not refute the evidence in Ms. Lively’s complaint, and it will fail.”

This high-stakes legal battle continues to unfold, with both sides refusing to back down.
