“You’re the guide, and you’re gonna take all the hits,” Goldberg explained. “It doesn’t matter what you do, there’s gonna be a whole contingent who are going to be complaining.” She encouraged Glaser to focus on doing her best, saying, “Kick everybody’s a**,” while also urging her to steer clear of social media to avoid criticism.
Goldberg’s co-hosts backed her advice, suggesting Glaser turn off Google Alerts to avoid seeing negative reactions or reviews after the big night. Glaser, visibly touched, placed a hand on her heart and expressed gratitude for the guidance. Fellow The View co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in, saying, “You got tips from the best,” to which Glaser enthusiastically replied, “I know, this is amazing.”
During their discussion, Glaser shared her surprise at discovering some celebrities avoid hosting major award shows like the Golden Globes. Goldberg, drawing from her own experience, explained why. “It’s terrifying,” she admitted. “You have to know there’s time for jokes, monologues, and other things. You’ve got to be on top of it because you’re the one keeping everything moving.”
Goldberg’s thoughtful advice seems to have struck a chord with Glaser, who now has some valuable insights to carry with her as she takes center stage at the Golden Globes.
The Golden Globes will air live on January 5, 2025, on CBS, with Glaser set to guide audiences through an exciting night of celebration and entertainment.
