Veteran Actor Wayne Northrop of Days of Our Lives Dies at 77


Wayne Northrop, a veteran actor best known for his roles on Days of Our Lives, has passed away at 77. According to his publicist, Cynthia Snyder, Northrop died at the Motion Picture and Television Home in Woodland Hills, California, where he had been receiving care due to an Alzheimer's diagnosis six years ago.

His wife, actress Lynn Herring Northrop, shared that Wayne passed peacefully, surrounded by family, and expressed gratitude to the care facility for their support in his final years.

Northrop's acting career began in the late 1970s with small roles on shows like Baretta and The Waltons. His breakthrough came in 1981 when he appeared in Dynasty as Michael Culhane, a recurring character in 35 episodes. However, his most iconic work was on the soap opera Days of Our Lives, where he portrayed both Roman Brady and Dr. Alex North, appearing in over 1,000 episodes between 1981 and 2006.

Beyond his standout roles, Northrop appeared in shows such as Port Charles, L.A. Law, The Young Riders, and Cold Case. Off-screen, he and Lynn owned a cattle ranch in California and were passionate about wildlife and conservation.

Wayne is survived by Lynn and their two sons, Hank and Grady.
