According to law enforcement, the burglary happened last week when an intruder entered Sophia's garage, took one item, and left.
In a situation reminiscent of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," police say the thief stole a $36 book, which was actually a holiday gift Sophia had planned to give.
An employee visited Sophia's property later that morning, noticed the garage was open, checked the security footage, and saw the intruder. Police were called and also reviewed the tape.
The LAPD filed a burglary report and has the footage, but no arrests have been made so far.
Sources say Sophia, who recently began dating former soccer star Ashlyn Harris, was home during the theft but slept through the break-in.
Sophia is the latest celebrity to join the growing list of stars targeted by thieves in recent months.
Bush has not yet commented on the incident.
