Robert Pattinson Reflects on Career, From Twilight Fame to Batman Legacy

Robert Pattinson, widely recognized for his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, shared a humorous encounter with an airport staff member who questioned his career trajectory. During a visa check, the officer identified him as the "Twilight guy" and asked why he stopped acting. Pattinson responded with a simple yet cryptic, "I’m Batman," leaving the officer amused but unaware of the context.

In an interview with The New York Times, Pattinson reflected on the unexpected longevity of his career. "Not in a million years did I think I’d still be doing this when I got my first job," he admitted, expressing disbelief at his continued success.

Since his Twilight days, Pattinson has taken on diverse and challenging roles in films like Cosmopolis, Good Time, High Life, The Lighthouse, and Tenet. His portrayal of Batman in Matt Reeves’ adaptation brought a unique twist to the iconic character. Pattinson envisioned Bruce Wayne as a socially awkward, grief-stricken individual who remains emotionally tethered to the trauma of losing his parents. "He thinks he is an incredibly weak and vulnerable child," the actor explained, describing how this shaped Wayne's need for a hardened alter ego.

Looking ahead, Pattinson will star in Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, set to release on April 18, 2025.
