Paula Abdul and Nigel Lythgoe Settle Sexual Assault Case, Case to Be Dismissed

Paula Abdul and Nigel Lythgoe have reached a settlement in the sexual assault case that Paula filed against Nigel last December. The former "American Idol" colleagues have filed the settlement with the L.A. County Superior Court, and the case, which was scheduled for trial next year, will now be dismissed.

Paula had accused Nigel of assaulting her twice: once during their time on "American Idol," where she alleged he forcibly kissed and grabbed her, and again while they worked together on "So You Think You Can Dance." Nigel denied the allegations, presenting text messages and emails to show that they had a friendly relationship even after the alleged incidents.

While it is unclear whether any money was involved in the settlement, Paula expressed satisfaction with the resolution. In a statement, she said, "I am grateful this chapter has successfully come to a close and is now something I can put behind me." She also shared that the battle had been long and challenging, hoping her experience would inspire other women facing similar struggles.
