Paris Hilton Urges Congress to Pass Child Abuse Reform Bill Before Year-End

Paris Hilton is keeping the momentum going—after her bill passed the Senate last week, she's heading back to Capitol Hill for the next phase.

In an open letter on Monday, Paris Hilton shared how speaking about her traumatic experiences at a youth treatment facility empowered her and urged the U.S. House to pass the "Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act" before Christmas.

Paris shared that she carried a "deep, unspoken pain" for years, believing silence would make her trauma disappear. However, she realized that staying silent only shields those responsible for the harm.

She admitted that speaking out was the hardest thing she’s ever done, but also the most empowering, as it connected her with many brave survivors who share similar stories.

The mother of two said the Senate's unanimous approval of her bill last week was one of the best moments of her life. Now, she's urging the House to pass it so it can reach President Biden's desk for signing. With only a week left in the 118th Congress, time is running out.

Hilton introduced the bill over a year ago and has worked tirelessly to get it passed, bravely sharing her experiences of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at Utah's Provo Canyon School.
