Nores, who is facing charges of abandoning Liam before his fatal fall from a hotel balcony in October, has defended himself by shedding light on the singer’s battle with substance abuse. He claims that Liam’s addiction led to dangerous situations, including being hospitalized and revived several times in recent years.
According to the documents, Liam had been in and out of rehab throughout the last year. Despite these efforts, his condition worsened, and he reportedly began using harder drugs like heroin. In September 2023, Liam suffered from severe intoxication, which led to a three-day hospital stay in Italy.
The struggle didn’t stop there. Nores says Liam was hospitalized twice in London later that year, with one incident requiring paramedics to revive him. In March 2024, Liam checked into rehab in Spain but left before completing treatment. Just weeks later, he relapsed and had to be revived once more.
Nores claims he did everything he could to help his friend, even spending his own money to support Liam’s recovery. However, he insists that despite his efforts, Liam’s addiction spiraled out of control.
“I was a friend who loved him very much and helped him selflessly, but it was not enough,” Nores said in the documents.
Liam’s tragic story is also explored in the new documentary TMZ Presents: Liam Payne: Who’s to Blame?, which delves into the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
