“She’s wildly, wildly out of my league,” Mulaney, 42, admitted during the Broadway opening of All In: Comedy About Love. The stage show features Mulaney alongside Fred Armisen, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Richard Kind. Mulaney joked that Kind, who is single, could easily win over Munn.
“She’s with me, a working comedian, when she could be with Richard Kind. Look at him! He’s a magnet,” he said with a laugh.
From Co-Parenting Plans to Marriage
Mulaney and Munn, 44, tied the knot quietly in July, more than two years after welcoming their son, Malcolm. The couple’s relationship began in May 2021, shortly after Mulaney completed a rehab program for drug and alcohol addiction.
Munn recently revealed that they weren’t officially dating when she found out she was pregnant. Initially, they planned to co-parent while living on opposite coasts. However, they decided to raise Malcolm together just before his November 2021 birth.
In September, the couple welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Méi, via surrogate. Munn also bravely shared earlier this year that she is battling breast cancer.
Back on Broadway
Despite a busy family life, Mulaney is excited to return to Broadway in a play written by his Saturday Night Live colleague, Simon Rich.
“Simon is the only genius I’ve ever worked with,” Mulaney said. “Working with him at SNL was the most creative time, staying up all night laughing at sketches.”
The Broadway opening attracted several stars, including Jon Hamm, Steve Martin, Stephen Colbert, Martin Short, Cecily Strong, and Tom Hanks. After the show, the cast and guests celebrated at Carmine’s, enjoying the restaurant’s famous meatballs and family-style pasta.
Mulaney may be busy, but he’s grateful for his family and career. “It’s all pretty amazing,” he shared.
