Hayley Atwell Returns as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday with Chris Evans

Hayley Atwell is set to return as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday, joining Chris Evans, who is rumored to reprise his role as Steve Rogers. The film, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026. Marvel Studios has yet to confirm the plot, but reports suggest Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., will be the main villain.

Atwell last appeared as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Endgame, where her character reunited with Steve Rogers after he traveled back in time to fulfill his promise to her. Meanwhile, Downey Jr., previously known for his portrayal of Iron Man, was revealed as Doctor Doom during San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

The upcoming film will feature a star-studded cast, including Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The Thunderbolts will also play a significant role, with Sebastian Stan returning as Bucky Barnes and Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, the new Black Widow.

Atwell will also appear in Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning, releasing in May 2025, reprising her role as Grace opposite Tom Cruise.
