Speaking with TV Insider, Jeong described the emotional experience of revisiting the world of Community. "It made me emotional and just brought me right back, and that’s all I’m legally allowed to say," he admitted, reflecting on the nostalgia the script evoked.
The actor, also recognized for his roles in The Hangover and Crazy Rich Asians, confirmed that a script is complete and a production plan is in place. However, he noted that the timeline for the film remains uncertain. Jeong hinted at the excitement of reuniting with his co-stars, describing the potential experience as both "magical" and "emotionally real."
"There is a script, there is a plan. We just don’t know when [it will happen]. Once that’s agreed upon, it’ll be magical and really emotional," Jeong said. "I think being on set, experiencing that again, [will be] so gratifying. Words can’t even express."
Jeong also expressed gratitude for the series’ dedicated fanbase, describing them as the most devoted audience he has ever encountered. "When the show was on the air, we had the most devoted fans of any project I’ve ever done," he stated.
Community, which aired from 2009 to 2015, follows a quirky group of students navigating life at the fictional Greendale Community College. The show’s ensemble cast includes Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Chevy Chase, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jeong himself.
