Bill Burr Weighs In on Murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson: "A Dirty Game"

Comedian Bill Burr recently shared his thoughts on the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson during an episode of his podcast Anything Better? with fellow comedian Paul Virzi. Burr expressed his confusion over the public's reaction to Thompson's killing, especially the focus on his personal life and reputation.

Burr pointed out that while people mourned Thompson as a “great guy” with a family, the CEO was under investigation for allegedly dumping stocks and failing to disclose information, which led to a $121 million lawsuit. Burr suggested that this could be a clear motive for the crime.

While Burr made it clear that he does not support violence, he criticized the healthcare industry, calling it a “dirty game” and highlighting the double standards in the media's coverage of Thompson’s death. He questioned why such a high level of attention was given to Thompson’s murder, noting that similar shootings happen daily in places like New York City without drawing the same response.

Thompson was shot outside the Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan on December 4 at around 6:40 a.m. just before a scheduled investor meeting. The investigation is still ongoing, and the suspect remains at large.
