Angelina Jolie Says Aging Has Boosted Her Career, Not Hindered It

Angelina Jolie believes her career is defying Hollywood norms, saying she's landing better roles as she gets older. In a recent interview with The Times, the actress shared that while many women in Hollywood struggle to find meaningful roles with age, her experience has been the opposite.

"I’ve got better work as I’ve got older," she said. "I don’t think about it in terms of roles offered but in terms of life experience you contribute."

Rather than focusing on being offered perfect roles, Jolie credits her perspective and life experience for helping her deliver stronger performances. Her outlook stands in contrast to comments from stars like Geena Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal, who have previously spoken out about ageism in the industry.

During the interview, Jolie avoided questions about her split from Brad Pitt, citing ongoing litigation. However, she opened up about her family, emphasizing that her children, not her work, are her top priority.

The conversation comes as Jolie promotes her latest film, Maria, a biopic about opera singer Maria Callas. While Callas struggled with the idea of age diminishing her power, Jolie appears to feel quite the opposite.
