Stone, a vocal supporter of Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential race, made pointed remarks about the direction of the country. “We have to stop and think about who we choose for government,” she said, subtly referencing President-elect Trump. She expressed concern about whether the American public truly has a say in their government or if it is being controlled from within.
Drawing from Italy's history with fascism, Stone warned that the U.S. is currently in a phase of “ignorant, arrogant adolescence.” She pointed out that many Americans, who she claimed are largely untraveled and uneducated, fail to see the bigger picture, likening the country’s current state to that of an adolescent with little understanding of the world.
In her acceptance speech for the Stella della Mole lifetime achievement award, Stone emphasized that solving issues of violence against women requires broader efforts, not just from women supporting women, but from all people. “Good men must help good men,” she insisted, urging men to confront their friends who exhibit harmful behavior. She called for men to protect women by distancing themselves from those who are violent or dangerous.
Stone also made a stark statement on the role of men in violence, quoting a comedian who remarked that “the No. 1 killer for women is men.” She stressed that it's crucial for society to acknowledge this reality and take action to protect women.
Her remarks highlighted a clear message: it’s time for change, and people must no longer ignore the harmful behaviors that continue to affect society, especially women.
