James Van Der Beek Diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer, Remains Optimistic and Raising Awareness

James Van Der Beek, best known for his role in Dawson's Creek, is facing a tough health challenge after being diagnosed with colorectal cancer. The 47-year-old actor shared the news with People magazine, saying he’s undergoing treatment and remains optimistic about his recovery, though he didn’t go into specifics. Van Der Beek is feeling good and focused on moving forward.

Colorectal cancer, which affects the large intestine, is a significant health concern, according to the American Cancer Society. While Van Der Beek hasn't shared how long he's been dealing with the disease, he’s turning his experience into an opportunity to raise awareness. He’ll soon appear in The Real Full Monty, a special show featuring stars who are stripping down to promote awareness for various cancers. Joining him in this effort are Anthony Anderson, Taye Diggs, Tyler Posey, Dancing with the Stars judge Bruno Tonioli, and NFL star Chris Jones.

Despite his diagnosis, Van Der Beek has kept busy in his career. He recently appeared in an episode of Walker and has an upcoming movie, Sidelined the QB and Me, which is currently in post-production.

At home, Van Der Beek has the support of his wife, Kimberly Brook, and their six children: Olivia, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn, Joshua, and Jeremiah.
