When asked to recall how many Bond films he’d made, Craig chuckled, admitting he wasn’t sure. After Starkey jokingly answered “too many,” Craig tried counting out loud before settling on five. His Bond journey began with Casino Royale in 2006, followed by Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and his final appearance in No Time to Die in 2021.
Surprisingly, Craig only planned to play Bond once. After the massive success of Casino Royale, he recalls a conversation with producer Barbara Broccoli. “I realized how big it was and asked Barbara, ‘How many more?’ She said four,” Craig shared. Craig agreed, with one request: “Then can I kill him off?” Broccoli agreed, setting the stage for Bond’s dramatic end.
While Craig has officially retired from the role, fans and Hollywood insiders have speculated on who might step in next. Names like Saltburn’s Jacob Elordi, The Fall Guy’s Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and The Boys in the Boat’s Callum Turner are frequently mentioned. Turner humorously attributed his rising odds to his mother’s influence, saying she’s probably spreading his name around.
Since Craig’s departure, Bond producers have yet to name the next 007. With a legacy that includes Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan, whoever steps into the role will have big shoes to fill.
