Craig drew inspiration from singer-songwriter Chappell Roan, who has prioritized her mental health over public expectations. “I really admire the guts to say those things,” he said. “Celebrity kills you. It’s a terrible thing that can happen, and you have to fight against all the temptations it throws at you.”
Reflecting on the demands of fame, Craig acknowledged the constant pressure to maintain a brand. As James Bond, he often felt limited, unable to pursue more daring roles, like his upcoming character in Luca Guadagnino’s Queer. Set in post-war Mexico City, the story explores vulnerability and complexity—traits Craig says resonate deeply with him.
“I recognize the character in myself,” he shared. “The pain, the longing, the love, and the faults. These truths are interesting to me.”
Craig admitted that playing Bond sometimes led him to isolate himself, caught in the belief that his role was too significant to step away. “This is where the madness lies,” he said. “You think, ‘I can’t go there because I’m so important.’”
Now, Craig is ready to take on roles that reflect his passion for portraying raw and multifaceted characters, leaving behind the weight of being 007.
