Cher Opens Up About Tense Feud with Late Mask Director Peter Bogdanovich

Cher has never been one to shy away from speaking her mind, and her latest revelation about the late director Peter Bogdanovich is no exception. Reflecting on her time filming the 1985 movie Mask, the legendary singer and actress candidly described her difficult relationship with the filmmaker, calling him "arrogant" and "rude" to women on set.

During the promotion of her new memoir, Cher shared a particularly tense moment with Bogdanovich that left a lasting impression. She recalled suggesting the kitchen as a location for a scene, only for the director to dismiss her input. The next day, he reportedly stormed onto the set, angrily accusing her of trying to take over the production. According to Cher, Bogdanovich went as far as calling her a "nobody" and threatening to cut her scenes from the movie entirely.

Cher didn't mince words in describing her feelings, saying, "He was a pig. He was an a**hole. He was not nice to the girls in the film, and he was so f–king arrogant. I really, really disliked him."

The animosity between the two was mutual. In a 2019 interview, Bogdanovich referred to Cher as the most challenging actor he had ever worked with, criticizing her "distrust of men" and inconsistency in performance. He even remarked, "She can’t act. She won Best Actress at Cannes because I shot her very well." However, he did acknowledge her skill in close-up shots, noting that her talent was most evident in those moments.

Cher's memoir, which delves into her remarkable career and personal life, is now available. A second installment is slated for release in 2025, promising even more behind-the-scenes insights from the iconic star.
