Oprah Denies $1M Payday Claim for Hosting Kamala Harris Town Hall

Oprah Winfrey is setting the record straight on claims that she was paid $1 million to host a town hall event supporting Kamala Harris's presidential campaign. The talk show legend firmly denied the rumors, calling them “not true” and stating she “was paid nothing – ever.”

While Oprah kept her thoughts on the election results under wraps, she made it clear that she didn’t receive any payment for supporting Harris. This statement follows a report from the Washington Examiner, which alleged that Oprah’s company, Harpo Productions, received a substantial amount for organizing a celebrity town hall in September for the Democratic nominee. That event saw major stars, including Meryl Streep, Bryan Cranston, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Julia Roberts, and Tracee Ellis Ross, join via Zoom.

Oprah has a history of supporting Democratic candidates, having campaigned for Joe Biden and Barack Obama, and endorsing Hillary Clinton in 2016. In addition to the town hall, she was a keynote speaker at Harris’s rally in Philadelphia. Despite the star power of Oprah and Lady Gaga, Pennsylvania ultimately swung red.

Donald Trump won 312 electoral votes last week and is set to take office in January.
