Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried to Star in The Housemaid Adaptation

Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are teaming up to star in a new film adaptation of The Housemaid, based on Freida McFadden's 2022 novel. Directed by Paul Feig (A Simple Favor) and written by Rebecca Sonnenshine, the movie has fans buzzing with excitement.

McFadden shared the news on Instagram, saying, "I can’t even express how excited I am to announce that #TheHousemaidMovie is coming soon!"

Sweeney will portray Millie, a young woman struggling to make ends meet, who becomes a nanny for Nina (played by Seyfried) and Andrew, a wealthy couple. What starts as a simple job turns dark when Millie uncovers dangerous secrets hidden within the household.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Adam Fogelson expressed enthusiasm for the project, calling it a "great filmmaker, great cast, and a great script." Erin Westerman, president of production, praised Sweeney and Seyfried's casting, noting their talent for keeping viewers on edge without revealing too much.

Seyfried, known for her roles in Mean Girls, Mamma Mia!, and Les Misérables, recently received acclaim for her portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes in The Dropout. Sweeney, a rising star, gained fame for her roles in HBO's Euphoria and The White Lotus, with her Euphoria performance earning critical praise and several award nominations.
