According to Lazzaro, there are three main violations cited by the government. First, Tekashi performed in Las Vegas without permission from his probation department. Second, he failed a drug test, testing positive for methamphetamine. Lazzaro noted that this could be a false positive, as Tekashi takes Adderall. Lastly, he did not take a required drug test on another occasion.
Tekashi’s legal troubles date back to his 2020 plea deal, which involved serious charges like racketeering and narcotics trafficking. He managed to avoid a lengthy 47-year prison sentence by cooperating with authorities and providing information on other defendants. Since his release from home confinement in 2020, he has been on a strict five-year supervised release, including regular check-ins with his probation officer.
Despite his legal issues, just three weeks ago, Tekashi claimed he was not worried about a clause in his new record deal that required him to stay out of trouble. He described himself as a "squeaky clean" individual and suggested that trouble always finds him. Tekashi is set to be arraigned later today at a federal courthouse in New York.
