Taylor Swift's Popularity Surges After Endorsing Kamala Harris

Taylor Swift's popularity has surged following her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris last month, defying former President Donald Trump's prediction that she would face backlash for it. Since announcing her support for Harris on September 10, Swift has gained 1.85 million followers on Spotify, bringing her total to 122.56 million as of October 3. This puts her just behind Indian artist Arijit Singh, who has 123.29 million Spotify followers.

Some Trump supporters have pointed to a drop in Swift's monthly listeners as evidence of a loss in fan support. After her endorsement, her monthly listeners fell by about 3% to 91.4 million. However, this decline is misleading; it follows a peak of over 116 million listeners in May, shortly after the release of her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department.” Swift's current listener count still exceeds her averages from previous years.

Additionally, Swift's social media presence has grown since her endorsement. Her Instagram followers increased by about 260,000, reaching 283.9 million, while her YouTube subscribers grew by 200,000 to 60.1 million. On YouTube, her views also saw a slight increase of 0.7% over the past 30 days, totaling 372.2 million.

Swift announced her intention to vote for Harris following the VP's debate victory over Trump. In her Instagram Story, she linked to Vote.gov, driving over 400,000 visitors to the site in just 24 hours. In response, Trump declared on “Fox & Friends” that he was not a fan of Swift and claimed she would “pay a price” for her endorsement. On September 15, he posted on Truth Social, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” without elaboration. Swift had previously criticized Trump for using a fake, AI-generated image of her to falsely suggest she supported him.
