Following the incident, Estes donated the destroyed guitar back to the nonprofit organization, the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner, with proceeds from the eBay sale intended to support agricultural education for local youth.
While the eBay listing claimed the guitar was autographed by Swift, a source from her merchandise company disputed this, stating that the signature was not genuine. They clarified that the signature on the guitar was actually from a different piece of memorabilia. Additionally, the certificate of authenticity provided with the sale was not from Swift's official merchandise team and lacked the typical seal found on such documents.
Despite the controversy surrounding its authenticity, the guitar has attracted interest and is set to be shipped to its new owner.
