Smashed Taylor Swift Guitar Sells for $6,550 on eBay Amid Authenticity Doubts

A smashed-up guitar once owned by Taylor Swift has found a new owner after being sold on eBay for $6,550. The guitar gained attention from a viral video at the end of September, where Gary Estes, a Texas resident, smashed the instrument after purchasing it for $4,000 at a charity auction. He received a hammer along with the guitar, which he later claimed was meant as a joke and not an act of malice.

Following the incident, Estes donated the destroyed guitar back to the nonprofit organization, the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner, with proceeds from the eBay sale intended to support agricultural education for local youth.

While the eBay listing claimed the guitar was autographed by Swift, a source from her merchandise company disputed this, stating that the signature was not genuine. They clarified that the signature on the guitar was actually from a different piece of memorabilia. Additionally, the certificate of authenticity provided with the sale was not from Swift's official merchandise team and lacked the typical seal found on such documents.

Despite the controversy surrounding its authenticity, the guitar has attracted interest and is set to be shipped to its new owner.
