Sharon Osbourne and Judge Judy Oppose Menendez Brothers’ Release

Sharon Osbourne is firm in her belief that Erik and Lyle Menendez belong behind bars. When spotted with her son Jack Osbourne in Larchmont Village, Sharon responded bluntly when asked if the Menendez brothers, who have been incarcerated for nearly 35 years, should be freed. Sharon and Jack agree that the brothers, who killed their parents with shotguns, deserve to remain in prison. They voiced skepticism over the Menendez brothers' claims of abuse by their father, Jose Menendez, saying that the abuse allegations shouldn't be enough to justify the brutal killings.

According to Sharon and Jack, if the brothers were being molested, they had other ways to escape the situation without resorting to murder. Their view adds to the mounting debate as the brothers fight for their release, hoping for a court hearing by Thanksgiving that could result in a resentencing or even a commuted sentence. Should their court bid fail, Erik and Lyle plan to request California Governor Gavin Newsom to grant clemency.

Judge Judy was also approached about the topic at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and she didn’t mince words either, refusing to say anything favorable about the brothers. With prominent voices like Sharon, Jack, and Judge Judy weighing in, the Menendez brothers may face an uphill battle in their quest for freedom.
