Selena Gomez Shares Coping Strategies for Mental Health Struggles

Selena Gomez recently opened up about her struggles with mental health during an Instagram interview with influencer Remi Bader at a Rare Beauty x Sephora event in New York City. The 32-year-old singer shared her coping strategies, revealing that she prefers to be around trusted friends when she's having a tough day. “Sometimes isolating myself when I’m not feeling great can be scary,” she said, emphasizing the importance of support from loved ones.

Gomez, who often turns to therapy, joked about not wanting to overwhelm her therapist. She expressed gratitude for having a close support system, particularly her 11-year-old sister, Gracie. “She’s very sweet and innocent, and she makes me feel very grounded,” Gomez noted.

Although she feels “a little overwhelmed” with her busy schedule, Gomez values her personal time to decompress. She also discussed the challenges of social media, explaining that while it can be beneficial, it can also have a negative impact. “It’s important to make sure you time it,” she advised, suggesting taking breaks and following uplifting accounts.

Gomez encouraged her fans to seek help if they're struggling, affirming that they are not alone. Since being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2020, she shared that she is feeling better now that she is “properly medicated.”
