Saoirse Ronan Hints at Possible Role in Greta Gerwig’s 'Narnia' Adaptation

Saoirse Ronan, a four-time Oscar nominee, hinted at a possible role in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Netflix adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ronan addressed the rumors, saying, “There isn’t, like, no truth to it. She [Gerwig] hasn’t asked me yet. She’s writing it.”

Ronan, known for her collaborations with Gerwig in Ladybird and Little Women, joked about her relationship with the director, adding, “I just sort of go to her and say, ‘So I’ll be in this, just so you know.’” However, she admitted Gerwig has not yet approached her about Narnia due to being focused on writing.

Gerwig herself previously expressed her apprehension about adapting the beloved C.S. Lewis series, calling it both “extraordinary” and “terrifying.”

In the interview, Ronan also shared that she was supposed to star as Weird Barbie in the Barbie movie alongside Kate McKinnon, but had to decline due to scheduling conflicts with her latest project, The Outrun. She expressed her disappointment, noting that frequent Gerwig collaborator Timothée Chalamet was also unable to join the film.

Ronan’s current film, The Outrun, is already generating Oscar buzz. Based on Amy Liptrot’s memoir, the film follows a woman’s struggle with alcohol addiction and her journey to sobriety in the remote Orkney Islands.
