In the book, released on October 8, Presley recalls a pivotal moment during a trip to Las Vegas when Jackson confessed his feelings. He told her, “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m completely in love with you. I want us to get married and for you to have my children.” Presley admitted she was taken aback but realized she felt the same way.
Following this revelation, Presley and Keough amicably divorced, and she started her relationship with Jackson. During their time together, Jackson claimed he was still a virgin, sharing that he had only kissed Tatum O'Neal and briefly dated Brooke Shields. Presley felt anxious about their intimacy, worried about making the wrong move.
The couple married in May 1994, just weeks after Presley’s divorce, and remained together for over two years before their divorce in August 1996. Jackson passed away from cardiac arrest in 2009 at the age of 50, while Presley died in January 2023 due to complications from bariatric surgery, at age 54. After her death, her daughter, actress Riley Keough, completed the memoir using recordings of her mother’s memories.
Riley expressed the desire to reveal her mother’s true self, saying, “What she wanted to do in her memoir… is to go beneath the magazine headline idea of her and reveal the core of who she was.” Riley emphasized that her mother aimed for connection through her story, hoping others could relate to her experiences of love, loss, and family.
