Lisa Marie shared how she struggled to decide whether to bury Benjamin in Hawaii or at Graceland, Elvis Presley's famous estate. During this time, she kept his body in a separate room in her home, preserved at 55 degrees. "I got so used to him, caring for him," she wrote.
She and Riley also chose to honor Benjamin by getting tattoos that matched his. When a tattoo artist arrived to help Lisa Marie with her new ink, she shockingly offered to show him Benjamin’s body to help match the designs. Riley described the moment as one of the most surreal of her life.
After the tattoos were completed, Lisa Marie felt it was finally time to say goodbye. The family held a funeral for Benjamin in Malibu, led by author Deepak Chopra. Benjamin was eventually buried at Graceland, alongside his grandfather Elvis.
Riley also touches on Benjamin’s mental health struggles in the memoir, revealing that he had sent a text to his mother two weeks before his death, saying he thought something was wrong with him mentally. Riley believes he didn’t truly wish to die, and her mother fought to stay alive for her other children despite her overwhelming grief.
