Although Gaga hasn't made an official announcement, her label, Universal Music, shared pre-save links for Disease through a special pop-up website, which is also linked to Spotify and Apple Music. This came after fans noticed some subtle clues earlier in the week, such as changes in the capitalization of a few song titles. Hours before Universal’s pop-up went live, Gaga rearranged songs on her Spotify playlist to spell "Gaga Disease," fueling speculation about the new release.
Last month, Gaga hinted at new music in an Instagram post, stating, "XX October: LG7 first single," which coincided with dates for her press tour for Joker: Folie à Deux. The film, which was highly anticipated, received mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office. Similarly, her Harlequin album, inspired by her character from the Joker sequel, debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200, marking the lowest debut of her career.
Despite this, Gaga found success with her Die With a Smile duet with Bruno Mars, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August. The last time she topped the charts was with her 2020 album Chromatica. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Disease, hoping it will mark a triumphant comeback for the pop icon.
