Born Kaseem Ryan in Brownsville, Brooklyn, Ka was not only a talented musician but also a committed member of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). He spent 20 years in service, rising to the rank of captain and bravely responding to the September 11 attacks at the World Trade Center. His Instagram post emphasized the importance of respecting the privacy of his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Ka was a founding member of the hip-hop group Natural Elements and collaborated with notable artists like Roc Marciano and GZA. He received accolades from icons such as Erykah Badu and Yasiin Bey, previously known as Mos Def. His artistic legacy includes an impressive eleven self-released solo albums, with his latest, The Thief Next To Jesus, dropping just a few months ago.
Known for his DIY approach, Ka often organized intimate album release events where he engaged with fans directly, fostering a sense of community around his music.
