T.J. Holmes Forced Out of Chicago Marathon After Achilles Injury

T.J. Holmes' run at the 2024 Chicago Marathon came to an abrupt halt after a painful injury forced him out of the race. The TV personality shared a dramatic photo on Instagram, showing himself strapped to a gurney in the back of an ambulance after suffering an injured Achilles tendon that ended his marathon journey on Sunday.

In a video clip, T.J. looked visibly concerned as he spoke with a medic while being whisked away for treatment. Earlier in his Instagram stories, he seemed to be cruising through the race, with cheers from spectators and a solid pace. But somewhere between miles 15 and 21, his Achilles gave out, leaving him with no choice but to stop.

Amy Robach, T.J.'s girlfriend and running partner for the marathon, was also participating but decided to pull out and join him in the ambulance after hearing about his injury.

While it wasn't the triumphant finish they were hoping for, the pair—both dedicated runners—had to face the tough reality that sometimes the body has its own plans. In the end, their health took priority, and they'll be looking ahead to the next challenge when they're ready.
