Garth Brooks Responds to Rape Allegation, Claims Extortion and Defamation

Garth Brooks has addressed an allegation that he raped a makeup artist five years ago, dismissing the claim as a clear attempt at extortion.

The country star is being sued by a woman who claims she was Trisha Yearwood's longtime makeup and hairstylist before he allegedly raped her in a hotel room in 2019.

Garth Brooks responded to the allegation on Thursday, shortly after news of the lawsuit surfaced, stating he has faced constant threats, lies, and demands for millions of dollars. He compared the situation to having a loaded gun pointed at him.

In the lawsuit, the woman alleges that Garth held her by the ankles, dangled her upside down, and violently penetrated her, causing her to feel like she was being torn apart.

She alleges that after the rape, everything continued as usual, and she did Garth's hair and makeup for the event. She claims she was facing financial struggles, needed the job, and that Garth took advantage of her vulnerable situation.

About a month ago, Garth filed a lawsuit against the woman, accusing her of "extortion and defamation of character." The lawsuit was filed anonymously at the time to protect the families on both sides.

Garth's lawsuit claims the accuser knew her allegations could severely damage his career and reputation, and she allegedly planned to move forward unless she received a large payout from him.

In a statement, Garth Brooks said, "I want to focus on my music and continue doing good. It hurts me that these positive actions are now in doubt. I trust the legal system, am not afraid of the truth, and I'm not the person they're portraying."
