In the interview, Finn reflected on his role in the new film but also took time to talk about his dream of appearing on the iconic comedy sketch show. When asked which sketch he’d love to recreate, he immediately pointed to the Underground Rock Festival skit, which is known for its hilarious take on musical festivals.
"They were the hosts of this terrible metal festival," Finn shared. "And they’d do these themed commercials announcing the lineup. I watched it again recently, and it was just so funny because it’s basically just a chance to name a bunch of random bands. I think it’d be hilarious to bring that one back."
While talking about his dream SNL gig, he also mentioned the special guest he’d love to have alongside him—a 90s alt band or an indie rock band, both fitting the kind of vibe he loves.
As for his role in the upcoming Saturday Night film, Finn plays an NBC Page, a key figure in the story, which is directed by Jason Reitman. The cast is filled with big names, including Gabriel LaBelle, who will take on the role of SNL creator Lorne Michaels, and Dylan O’Brien, who will portray Dan Aykroyd. Other cast members include Cory Michael Smith as Chevy Chase, Lamorne Morris as Garrett Morris, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, and Kim Matula as Jane Curtin.
The film promises to be a mix of humor, chaos, and behind-the-scenes drama. According to its official synopsis, it will take viewers through a countdown in real time, building up to the moment when those famous words—"Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!"—are heard.
For Finn, being a part of this project is something he’s been deeply passionate about. "I’m really proud to be in the scenes that I’m in and very proud to be part of a movie like that," he said. "The cast is amazing, and I feel really lucky to be a part of it."
With his sights set on both the big screen and his dream of performing on SNL, it’s clear that Finn Wolfhard is embracing every opportunity that comes his way, and fans are eager to see what’s next for the young star.
