Chris Pine Ordered to Testify in Ongoing Legal Dispute with Neighbor

Chris Pine is set to appear for a deposition later this month as part of a legal dispute with his neighbor, Helen Yu. The court ruling, issued on October 8, mandates that Pine must be present on October 25 at 10 a.m. to provide documents requested by Yu.

The legal clash started in 2022 when Yu accused Pine of planting several trees along their shared property boundary in Los Angeles. She claimed that these trees, specifically Ficus Benjamina, have caused significant damage due to their invasive root systems. According to her lawsuit, the roots have led to cracked walls, damage to plumbing, pipes, and even the pool area on her property, creating safety issues and interfering with her enjoyment of the space.

Pine, however, responded with a countersuit. He argued that when he bought the house in 2010, Yu had already installed a fence that encroached eight to ten feet into his property. This back-and-forth has been ongoing for over a year, with no sign of resolution just yet.

Yu’s legal team has been pushing to depose Pine since January 2023, with one recent attempt scheduled for October 2, which Pine did not attend. Frustrated, Yu’s lawyers accused Pine of either avoiding the deposition or trying to delay the trial.

In his defense, Pine pointed out that his lead attorney, Thomas Brown, has been tied up with a lengthy trial in San Diego and has limited time to attend depositions. He criticized the lack of consideration for his own schedule.

As both sides prepare for the next step, the legal battle between Pine and Yu remains unresolved.
