This is exactly the outcome Artem was hoping for. After all, when he responded to Nikki’s divorce filing in September, he requested joint custody. Nikki, however, wanted sole custody, asking the court to limit Artem's time with Matteo to supervised visits. She even requested that he take anger management classes.
The case has been tense. Earlier this month, Nikki was granted a restraining order against Artem, alleging abuse. Artem quickly fired back, claiming Nikki was the real aggressor in their relationship. While Artem was arrested for domestic violence back in August, prosecutors later decided not to press charges, saying they didn’t have enough evidence to move forward.
In court this week, Artem insisted that he doesn’t have anger issues, and it seems the judge believed him, as no anger management was ordered. Instead, both Nikki and Artem will take individual therapy sessions, as well as parenting classes to improve their co-parenting skills.
The couple’s divorce trial is scheduled for December, and it’s expected to stretch over two days. While Artem continues to deny ever physically attacking Nikki, the legal battle is far from over. All eyes will be on the courtroom as their messy split continues to unfold.
